I am David Rubesch, Head of Film Production. I joined GYÁR in 2023 as a film producer to strengthen our traditional movie making capabilities. I have 18 years of experience in the world of film and advertising production.
My IMDb: Production Manager, Actor, Producer portfolio
How did you get into the industry?
Serendipitously. Originally, I wanted to be an advertising copywriter, following the footsteps of my nephew. And somewhat later I encountered a somewhat similar opportunity: a commercial film production company was looking for an assistant, so I thought I'd give it a try. I've been doing this ever since.
What is your superpower?
I always try to be calm and solution-oriented. My motto: "you can't talk about a problem until you have a proposal for a solution".
What were your favourite projects so far?
It’s Free Fall (‘Szabadesés’ in Hungarian, directed by György Pálfi), a feature film wherein I was involved as production manager, which won 3 awards at the 49th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. I also was several times lucky enough to work with great Hungarian acting legends. In 2018, I worked as a production manager on the new episode of the The Check-Eared Rabbit (‘Kockásfülű nyúl’, a legendary Hungarian animated children's series), when I was able to work with Veronika Marék, Zsolt Richly and many young animation talents from the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design.
What do you do if you are not working?
I spend my free time with my family, my daughter is 9 years old and my son is 7 years old.
How do you grow professionally?
Generally speaking, in film production, it is mainly the kilometres you leave behind that count. The workshops organized by the rental companies help me in knowing the tools, I learn about the new things related to post-production from my colleagues, especially from Piri. It can be sometimes difficult to keep up with the rapid development of digital technology.
What is your favourite movie of all time?
Monty Python's Life of Brian
